I have been a volunteer at The Humane Society of Atchison since about March 2005. This shelter covers five Northeast counties in Kansas and works very hard considering it operates on a wish and a prayer like most shelters. We have had a very minimal staff and even fewer volunteers but our animals come first and we are working our way into more effective means of raising funds and teaching the public about animal issues. Contact us for adoptions and to offer your services to help/donate. Our facilities are optimal for the budget we operate on and we are a "no-kill" shelter.
