Tip of the Month

Grapes, Raisins, and Toxicity

Grapes and raisins have been found to be highly toxic for dogs. Dogs who ingest grapes or raisins typically vomit within a few hours. Afterwards, some dogs stop eating, develop diarrhea, and become lethargic. Blood chemistry panels indicate renal failure. If these dogs don't receive veterinary treatment right away, they may die.

While the known toxicity to grapes and raisins is mainly in dogs, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center advises not to feed grapes or raisins to any types of pets.
